First Post: Background Info

Medical, marriage, and hypothyroidism. If that isn't the ultimate tri-fecta (sp?) for weight gain, I don't know what is. I have been married for about a year and a half, began medical school in August, and have been battling my thyroid for most of my life (although, until the last two years, unknowingly). I grew up very active, involved in sports, even going on to be a college athlete. I worked out hours every single day. Throughout this, I ate healthy, and stayed fit, though not as thin as someone on my diet and exercise regimen should be, and I remember feeling tired all the time. So, after a career-ending shoulder injury, my workout regimen dropped off, though I still exercised fairly regularly, and the weight piled on.
So, after Thanksgiving, I have found myself in a rut. Recent test results said my thyroid levels were worse than before I had taken any medication, so I have an increase in medication and a head full of worries about why my thyroid does not want to cooperate. I sit on my butt and study all. day. long. I'm tired. I'm tired of being overweight. I'm tired of being tired. So, with my thyroid levels (hopefully) willing to cooperate for a little bit, I am making some real changes to get healthy. I want to feel better. I want those cut, lean abs that I used to have. I want to buy cute clothes and love shopping again. So, here I am going to chronicle the trials and hopefully, successes of the married, medical student vs the evil thyroid.
Vitamin Regimen of: multivitamin, 1000mg Vitamin C
Day 1:
Breakfast: 2 servings of Naked Juice (So much fruit), 1 cup of black tea with splenda
Morning Snack: Cliff Bar and water
Lunch: celery, single cup serving of peanut butter, bananna, 1 cup of grapes and water
Dinner: Salmon, brown rice, brocolli, and water
After Dinner: 1/2 cup of all natural, low fat breyer's coffee ice cream (yummm)
Exercise: 30 minutes of walking on the treadmill
I am beyond proud of the fruit and veggies I consumed today. Left me feeling full all day, and I didn't hit my 3:00 wall in Anatomy Lab this afternoon. I count today a win over stress, thyroid, and medical school. My huband (J), even commented on my good mood tonight. Now, to try not to stress eat while I study for my pharm exam!

  1. I've chosen bovine supplements because it’s enormous success rate amongst users. I've tried it for almost three weeks and I've gained many positive results!
